OUR 3 PILLARS INCLUDE
How we think about people affects how we behave, which in turn, affects how others respond to us. This directly affects our own emotions.
We support the development of social thinking skills in our students through many strategies; teaching our students:
How their behaviors affect the way others perceive and respond to them.
How this affects their own emotions, responses, and relationships with others across different contexts.
Effective emotional regulation is best described as the ability to regulate or respond to an experience/situation in a manner that is socially acceptable.
Teens and adolescents with learning disabilities or social differences may struggle with emotion and mood regulation skills.
We teach our students proper coping strategies, which help them manage their emotions.
Executive functioning is a process that helps connect past experiences with present actions.
Despite high intelligence, low executive functioning in teens with learning disabilities can impede all facets of their school performance, their relationships, and their day to day management of their time and themselves.
Students are taught strategies to improve executive functioning.
